El Paso County deputies and firefighters pulled a woman and her dog to safety after the pair became trapped inside a culvert along Fountain Creek with rapidly rising water, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office reported.

Deputies responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. on September 9 in the 3100 block of Glenarm Road, after a person reported hearing someone calling for help. When responders arrived, they found an adult woman and her dog trapped inside a culvert in Fountain Creek, with water that had risen to the woman's neck.

Deputies cut through a fence at the scene and, working alongside the Stratmoor Hills Fire District and the Security Fire Department, pulled a grate from the culvert opening and extracted the woman and her dog from the water.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office released details of the incident after the rescue. The agency confirmed it had assisted in the rescue of the woman and her dog, who were trapped in Fountain Creek earlier in September.

No information on the condition of the woman or her dog following the rescue, or any further details about the circumstances that led them into the culvert, has been released by officials at this time.
