The Mountain Artists nonprofit is staging its 41st annual Mountain Arts Festival in Woodland Park this weekend, marking more than four decades of presenting art as a community experience in the shadow of Pikes Peak.

The nonprofit organization, in partnership with the city of Woodland Park, is presenting the 41st annual Mountain Arts Festival in Memorial Park. The festival features 75 artists, each highlighting the creative scope of the event.

With painters, sculptors, jewelers, photographers, metal, wood, mosaic, fiber, and fused-glass artists, the festival thrives on viewer choices. The show draws a regional response from artists, many of whom come from Arizona and Oklahoma, in addition to cities and towns across Colorado.

Organizers described the event as deliberately accessible. Festival chair Nancy Stannard noted the variety of price points on offer, adding, "It's not an elite, arts only; it's not a gallery, it's a festival." Mountain Arts president Renee Young echoed that sentiment, saying the organization is "all-inclusive" and encourages all artists to apply to participate in future shows.

Year after year, hundreds of people gather in a natural setting, with Pikes Peak as a scenic accessory, to see creation in action. Stannard called the festival "our pinnacle of the year."

The Mountain Arts Festival runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 8 and 9 in Memorial Park. Admission is free, and food trucks and live music will be on site.
