Fort Carson is warning El Paso County residents to prepare for elevated noise and dust levels as soldiers conduct field artillery training this week. Soldiers from the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, will be conducting field artillery training intermittently in the south and southwest training areas on Fort Carson from Aug. 21–28.

Officials say those south of the main post can expect more noise and dust during the day and throughout the night. The exercises are not a departure from the installation's routine operations. The training is a regular part of the 4th Infantry Division training cycle, required to validate crews, according to a Fort Carson spokesperson.

Fort Carson asks that noise complaints be directed to the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at (719) 526-9849.

The installation has not indicated whether additional training windows are planned after Aug. 28, and residents should watch for further announcements from Fort Carson Public Affairs as the exercise period concludes.
