The University of Colorado football program announced it will bring its preseason training camp to Colorado Springs for the opening week of fall preparations, marking a notable visit from one of the state's most prominent college sports programs.

The program announced Thursday that the Buffaloes' preseason training camp will begin on Aug. 2, with the entire first week to take place in Colorado Springs.

The team will stay on the sister campus at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) and practice each day at Fountain-Fort Carson High School before returning to Boulder on Aug. 8 for the rest of fall camp.

The arrangement continues a pattern of the program holding at least some preseason activity away from its home facilities. The Buffs previously practiced outside of Boulder during the preseason in 2024, when they held a public practice at All-City Stadium in Denver. The Colorado Springs stop, however, will not include a similar public-facing event.

There will be no public events during the team's stay in Colorado Springs as they prepare for the 2026 season — Coach Prime's fourth in charge — which begins at Georgia Tech on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. on ESPN in Atlanta.

Whether the program will return to Colorado Springs for future preseason camps or expand public access during any potential follow-up visits has not been announced.
