A youth trail running camp wrapped up its latest session at North Cheyenne Cañon Park on July 31, 2024, drawing dozens of children to one of Colorado Springs' most storied natural corridors.

Thirty-four young runners attended the three-day camp. The goal of the camp, open to children from second to eighth grade, is to introduce youngsters to trail running and to show them that trail running is for everyone.

The camp was founded four years ago by local coach Dreama Walton and local professional runner Joseph Gray, who came up with the idea when they wanted to give back to the community. On the final day of this year's session, Walton led participants along the Chamberlain Trail.

More information on the camp and Walton's nonprofit is available at dreamateamway.org.

Whether registration for future sessions of the COS-TRCK Trail Running Camp will open and what capacity the program may expand to remains to be announced by the organizers.
