The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has launched separate searches for two minors who went missing in the Security-Widefield area within days of each other, appealing to residents for help in both cases.
Deputies began looking for an 11-year-old boy after he walked away from his home on a Tuesday afternoon. The child departed on foot from the Metropolitan Street area of Security-Widefield at roughly 12:30 p.m., the agency announced on social media. The boy, referred to publicly only as Michael, stands 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. At the time he was last spotted, he had on a black shirt, blue denim pants, and sandals that were orange and white.
A second search is underway for a 13-year-old girl who was reported missing near Lone Eagle Lane in Security-Widefield at approximately 10:15 a.m. on a Saturday. The Sheriff's Office identified the girl only by her first name, McKenzi, describing her as 5-foot-3 and 160 pounds. She was last observed dressed in a black tank top and sweatpants.
Both cases are centered in the same suburban community south of Colorado Springs, and both have prompted the Sheriff's Office to turn to the public for assistance. In Michael's case, the agency put out a direct call for community members to come forward with any relevant information.
