One person died Monday afternoon after a motorcycle crash on westbound Highway 24 in El Paso County, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The crash occurred just before 1:00 p.m. on westbound Highway 24 at mile marker 295, just before entering Cascade.
CSP described the incident as a single-vehicle crash, with only the motorcycle involved. Authorities initially reported that a second person had been transported to a hospital, but CSP later corrected that information, confirming only one person was involved in the crash.
Following the crash, the right lane of westbound Highway 24 was shut down to support the ongoing investigation, while the left lane remained open. Travelers in the area were advised to expect emergency personnel and delays.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and Colorado State Patrol had not released additional details about the circumstances of the collision as of the initial report.
