An advisory from Fort Carson warned the broader community that field artillery exercises running from Oct. 5 through Oct. 8 would generate higher-than-normal levels of both noise and airborne dust, with disruptions expected around the clock.

Households situated to the south of the installation's central facilities are particularly likely to feel the effects, as the drills are intended to certify the proficiency of gun crews belonging to the 4th Infantry Division.

For residents troubled by the activity, Fort Carson asked that concerns be submitted directly to its Public Affairs Office, reachable by telephone at (719) 526-9849.

Whether the exercises conclude on schedule Oct. 8 or prompt any follow-up notices from the installation is still to be determined.
