A former University of Colorado golfer has taken a significant step toward the PGA Tour. Biwer, who holds 44 records from his time in Boulder, locked up a Korn Ferry Tour card for 2027 on Sunday, the culmination of a full season competing on the PGA Tour Americas. The achievement capped what his college coach called a breakthrough year for the 24-year-old.

The 2026 PGA Tour Americas campaign was a productive one for Biwer. He captured his first professional win at the CRMC Championship in Brainard, Minnesota, in August. Over the course of the season he made the cut in nine of twelve events, recorded four top-ten finishes, and posted a runner-up result at the ATB Classic in Alberta, Canada, in September. That body of work placed him seventh on the tour's final points standings.

Biwer also drew attention at an event closer to home during the year. At the Korn Ferry Tour's stop at TPC Colorado in July, he entered through Monday qualifying, went on to finish fifth overall, and equaled the course record with a 63 during the final round. Reflecting on the broader season, Biwer told CUBuffs.com the preceding six months had been "a roller coaster" but that he felt he had learned a great deal and was grateful to have shared the experience with his parents.

CU coach Roy Edwards described it as "an exciting season for Justin" and said Biwer's achievements across various tours reflected "his work ethic and competitive will."

There is still more golf to be played. His results this year also qualified him for Q-school's concluding stage, set for December 10–13 at TPC Sawgrass, where landing inside the top five would earn him a direct PGA Tour exemption heading into 2027. Biwer is not the only Colorado-connected player to advance. University of Denver graduate Chris Korte and Air Force Academy product Kyle Westmoreland each secured full Korn Ferry Tour exemptions by placing inside the top 60 on that tour's money list.

The regional golf calendar already has a notable date ahead. The Korn Ferry Tour is scheduled to return to TPC Colorado the week of July 12–18, 2027, which will represent the ninth consecutive year the circuit has come to Colorado. Whether a tenth straight year follows remains an open question, as PGA Tour schedule changes anticipated for 2028 could bring a Tour event to Denver and potentially shift the TPC Colorado stop.

Biwer's performance at the Q-school finals in December will determine whether he enters 2027 holding Korn Ferry Tour status or a full PGA Tour card.
