Golden Corral restaurants in Southern Colorado are giving customers a simple way to support the military community during a limited-time fundraising drive. Customers can support active-duty military members and disabled veterans through Sept. 13 by rounding up their restaurant bills at the register.

The campaign directs proceeds to a nonprofit with deep roots in veteran wellness. The contributions directly benefit Project Healing Waters, a long-time corporate partner of the restaurant chain — a nonprofit organization that uses fly fishing and outdoor recreation to assist veterans and active-duty military members in healing both physically and mentally. Launched in 2005, the organization has grown to nearly 200 programs serving almost 7,000 disabled veterans across 45 states.

All programming funded through the campaign is offered free of charge to those who qualify. Donations collected at the register support Project Healing Waters programs, which are provided at no cost to participants, and include instruction in fly fishing, fly tying, and fly rod building.

The organization's chief executive spoke to the significance of the restaurant chain's ongoing commitment. Jim Knowlton, CEO of Project Healing Waters, praised the partnership, saying, "I couldn't be prouder of being associated with Golden Promise. They put their money where their mouth is, really just supporting our veterans and their families."

No total fundraising goal for the campaign period was disclosed in available reporting, and it remains to be seen how much Southern Colorado locations will collectively raise before the Sept. 13 deadline.
