The event includes 25 trick-or-treat stations spread throughout the zoo, with non-food options available at select stations for kids with allergies. Several animal exhibits remain open during the event, including giraffe feeding and the budgie aviary. Families can also explore a spooky graveyard display and lit pumpkins at Magic Manor.
Tickets: Advance Purchase Required
This cannot be said enough: Boo at the Zoo does not sell walk-up tickets at the gate. Every attendee โ including zoo members โ must purchase tickets in advance at cmzoo.org. Zoo members do receive a $5 discount per ticket, but the purchase must still be made through the member portal before you arrive.
Friday and Saturday evenings tend to fill up fastest. If you're planning on attending one of the first two nights โ October 16 or 17 โ check availability immediately. Timed parking tickets are also available for those driving; rideshare options are sold separately for families who prefer not to deal with parking.
Tips for Families
Costumes are welcomed and encouraged. Strollers are permitted but can be challenging in some areas of the zoo after dark, so a carrier is useful for younger kids. The non-food treat stations are clearly marked, which makes it easier to navigate with kids who have nut or other allergies. Arrive close to the 4 PM opening if you want to experience the event before full crowds arrive.
What's Next
