Three road improvement projects came to completion in the Woodland Park area this summer, with state transportation crews finishing work on a major highway corridor and town crews wrapping up paving on two local streets.
CDOT crews finished a drainage improvement and widening project on Highway 67, while the town of Woodland Park separately completed repaving on two neighborhood streets.
The Highway 67 work was concentrated on the north side of town and ran from March 2025 through this summer. A central goal of the project was replacing open roadside ditches that had been eating into private property and weakening the foundation of the highway itself, which crews addressed by installing underground drainage systems. In addition to the drainage upgrades, the project expanded a two-mile section of the road from two lanes to four, introduced a shared center turn lane, and delivered several improvements for pedestrians along the corridor.
At the municipal level, the town tackled two separate street segments. Crews laid new pavement along a half-mile of Fairview Avenue, stretching southward from US 24 to the town boundary, and resurfaced Thunder Ridge Drive across roughly one-third of a mile on the highway's north side. The Thunder Ridge Drive job presented added difficulty, since workers first had to pull up the street's existing cobblestone surface before repaving a road that is both steep and sharply curved.
No information about project costs, funding sources, or potential future phases of road work along these corridors has been reported, and those details remain outstanding.
