A Green Mountain Falls nonprofit has secured a high-profile role in the lead-up to one of the arts world's most anticipated dance premieres of the new year.

Green Box Arts is hosting the dancers of "Brokeback Mountain, the Ballet" during a three-week residency this month. The dancers will perform the ballet at a world premiere at the Guggenheim Museum in January in New York City.

Commissioned by Works & Process, the dance is taken from a short story written by Annie Proulx. According to a press release, Works & Process residencies support more than 1,000 artists, whose incubated works have been recognized with awards and grants and have toured nationally and internationally with the U.S. State Department.

Green Box Arts, based in Green Mountain Falls, has described the residency as another milestone month for the organization, which also hosted an event-filled arts festival in July.

The Green Box residency culminates in a free in-process showing from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Sallie Bush Community Center. Reservations can be made by calling (719) 465-3065 or visiting greenboxarts.org.

The Guggenheim world premiere date in January has not yet been publicly confirmed beyond what was included in the organization's press materials.
