A collaboration between the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs and Gold Hill Mesa is behind a forthcoming photo calendar featuring Colorado Springs police dogs, with a public release party scheduled for the evening of September 10. The gathering runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at 142 S. Raven Mine Drive and costs nothing to attend.
All of the images in the 2027 edition were shot on location throughout Gold Hill Mesa, rooting the calendar visually in Colorado Springs. Organizers timed the release to coincide with Gold Hill Mesa's Art on the Mesa exhibition, folding the calendar debut into a broader evening of art and civic celebration.
Attendees will have the chance to meet two K9 teams — handler Simmons alongside K9 Wicket, and handler Bastian alongside K9 Dutch — and can browse the gallery show while enjoying light food and beverages.
Copies of the calendar are priced at $15, with all revenue going toward CSPD's K9 units and the Police Foundation's broader mission. Those dollars are directed at acquiring new police dogs, training and outfitting officers, stocking medical trauma kits, funding scholarships for children of CSPD employees, and covering other departmental needs.
Nicole Magic, the Police Foundation's president and executive director, credited Gold Hill Mesa with being "far more than the setting for this calendar" and "a true partner in making it possible," saying the partnership produced something that "celebrates CSPD K9s and the power of community partnership."
Whether the September 10 event sells out its calendar stock — and the total amount raised for K9 unit needs — will become clear after the evening concludes.
