Colorado's 150th anniversary brought a sweeping high-altitude celebration on Saturday, as climbing groups fanned out across the state with a shared goal: reaching the top of each of Colorado's peaks above 14,000 feet at the same moment. The date was Aug. 1, 2026.
Mount Quandary was one of the peaks included in the effort, where Adaptive Adventures sent a contingent of hikers toward the top as part of the Colorado 150 day festivities. Photographs captured a dense column of climbers stretching upward along the route, visible from a point roughly 1,100 feet of elevation below the actual summit.
The Colorado 150 celebration drew on history for its concept: organizers modeled the coordinated multi-peak ascent on a comparable undertaking carried out fifty years earlier, during the state's centennial in 1976.
Full results across all peaks involved — including how many summits were successfully reached and the total number of participants statewide — had not been reported by publication time.
