The Colorado Springs Fire Department announced it is sending several of its members to assist with potential search and recovery efforts related to Tropical Storm Nolo. According to CSFD and the Colorado Urban Search and Rescue Task Force One, five members of CSFD will be activated to assist with the storm.

The task force is deploying a total of 16 members, who are scheduled to take an early morning flight Friday from Denver to support search and rescue operations, if needed. Task force members were set to begin their work Thursday with gear and medical checks ahead of the departure.

Officials said Tropical Storm Nolo could strengthen into a hurricane and is expected to make landfall on Hawaii's Big Island as early as Friday.

The scope of the deployment and any outcomes of search and rescue operations in Hawaii remain to be reported as the storm makes landfall.
