L.L. Bean is set to expand its Colorado Springs footprint with a second local store, bringing new retail space and dozens of jobs to the north side of the city.

The company's planned opening date is Oct. 30 at The Promenade Shops at Briargate. The new store will span more than 13,000 square feet. The business will replace The Container Store on the east edge of the mall as part of a $2 million remodel, according to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.

L.L. Bean is looking to hire about 40 full-time and part-time positions to staff the location. Open roles include store team leads and sales associates.

In a news release, Kenon Mitchell, District Manager at L.L. Bean, cited the city's outdoor access as a draw, pointing to Garden of the Gods and the landscapes surrounding Pikes Peak. "With our second Colorado store, we're building on our presence in the state and creating a new way for people across the Colorado Springs area to experience L.L. Bean and spend more time outside," Mitchell said.

Whether the store opens on its scheduled date and how quickly the 40 positions are filled remain to be seen in the weeks ahead.
