A vehicle struck a Dairy Queen restaurant on Fillmore Street Wednesday after the driver pressed the wrong pedal, leaving three people with minor injuries and forcing the business to close temporarily.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:11 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, when Colorado Springs Police confirmed the driver pressed the wrong pedal and struck the building.

A passenger was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to police, and the driver reported mild pain. Two people who were inside the restaurant at the time also sustained minor injuries. No one was transported to a hospital.

Police stated that alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the crash, based on the initial investigation.

The Dairy Queen on Fillmore Street remained closed in the aftermath of the incident, according to Colorado Springs Police.

The extent of structural damage to the building and a timetable for the restaurant's reopening had not been released as of the time of this report.
