The El Paso County Sheriff's Office announced that its Second Annual Guns & Hoses City Slickers Rodeo generated more than $40,000 for local nonprofits, building on the event's inaugural success. The rodeo raised $40,463.14, surpassing last year's contribution.

The event drew around 3,000 attendees and continues to support organizations serving first responders, military members, and the broader Pikes Peak region, officials said.

The proceeds will be distributed among three organizations: the Colorado Springs Firefighters Foundation will receive $16,705.26; the Pikes Peak Law Enforcement Memorial Fund will receive $12,844.21; and the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Foundation will receive $10,913.67.

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal credited the collaboration behind the event's success. "This event represents what can be accomplished when our first responders, military partners, local businesses, and community come together for a common purpose," he said. Roybal noted that the event originated two years ago as an idea from a group of Mounted Unit deputies who wanted to create something meaningful for the community, and said seeing their vision grow into an event raising more than $40,000 for local charities made him "incredibly proud."

Across its first two years, the event has donated over $76,000 to local nonprofits, according to EPSO.

Whether the rodeo will become a permanent fixture on the El Paso County calendar — and which organizations may benefit in future years — has not yet been announced.
