D49's BASE49 Program Still Enrolling for 2026-27 — What COS Families Need to Know
The school year started weeks ago, but for families still figuring out before- and after-school childcare, there's good news: District 49's BASE49 program is still accepting enrollment for the 2026-27 school year.

BASE49 — Before and After School Education — is Falcon School District 49's official licensed childcare program for elementary school students. It operates on school campuses across the district, which means parents can drop off and pick up their kids from the same building where they go to school.
The program runs from the beginning of the school day through August 4, 2026, and continues through May 26, 2027 — covering the full school year. Before-school care starts early enough for parents with early work hours, and after-school care extends into the late afternoon to accommodate standard Colorado Springs work schedules.
Registration is managed through D49's community education platform at d49.ce.eleyo.com. Multiple campus locations are available, but spots at some locations can fill during the school year — if you've been putting this off, now is the time to check availability.
D11 After-School Options
Colorado Springs School District 11 also runs after-school programs at a number of its campuses. Details vary by school, and the programs are designed to provide both supervised care and enrichment activities for students. The best starting point for D11 families is the school's front office or the D11 website at d11.org/administration/investing-in-their-future/after-school-programs.
D11 students started school on August 12, meaning they're now in their third week. If after-school coverage still needs to be finalized, it's worth making a call on Monday morning.
Why After-School Care Matters This Time of Year
The first few weeks of school are a natural adjustment period — for kids and for families. Many parents piece together informal arrangements for the opening weeks (a grandparent, a neighbor, a rotating schedule) with the intention of formalizing things "once school gets going." For a lot of Colorado Springs families, that moment is right now.
After-school programs do more than provide supervision. Research consistently shows that students who participate in structured after-school programs do better academically, exhibit fewer behavioral problems, and are more likely to be physically active than students in unsupervised after-school environments. BASE49 is one of the most accessible options for D49 families — it's on-campus, it's licensed, and it's designed to serve working parents.
