Halloween lands on Saturday this year, which means October 30 through November 1 is the most family-packed weekend of the fall in Colorado Springs. Whether you're chasing the full trick-or-treat experience, looking for daytime activities on Friday, or need something for Sunday after the sugar rush wears off, there's something going on around every corner.

Here are the picks worth putting on your calendar — including several free options and one ticketed event that requires planning ahead.

Boo at the Zoo — Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (Fri–Sat)

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's annual Boo at the Zoo runs Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 from 4:00 to 8:30 PM, with last admission at 7:30 PM. The event features trick-or-treat stations throughout the zoo grounds, a costume contest, a haunted house, and the chance to see the zoo's animals in the evening light — a genuinely different experience from a daytime visit.

This is the weekend pick that requires the most advance planning: tickets must be purchased in advance at cmzoo.org/boo, and there are no walk-up sales. Members receive a discount. The address is 4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road. If you don't have tickets yet, check availability today — this event consistently sells out.

Free Indoor Halloween Festival at SoccerHaus (Sat)

For a completely free indoor Halloween option on Saturday, SoccerHaus at 4845 List Drive is hosting a family Halloween festival from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. The event includes indoor trick-or-treating, a bounce house, costume contest, DJ, karaoke, and sensory-friendly spaces for kids who find large crowds or outdoor events overwhelming. No tickets required — just show up in costume.

Trunk or Treat on West Bijou Street (Sat)

The free Trunk or Treat on West Bijou Street runs Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 1628 West Bijou Street. Decorated vehicles, candy, and community fun — this is the kind of event that's particularly good for younger kids who want the trick-or-treat experience in a more contained setting before it gets too dark out.

Halloween at Ivywild School (Sat)

Ivywild School at 1604 S Cascade Avenue is hosting Halloween events on Saturday. The building is a longtime Colorado Springs community landmark, and the Halloween celebration is a good reason to walk through its spaces if you haven't been recently. Free admission.

Neighborhood Trick-or-Treating (Sat)

Old-fashioned neighborhood trick-or-treating is, of course, the Saturday night centerpiece for most COS families. Sunset in Colorado Springs is around 6:00 PM on October 31, which means starting out with some daylight before the neighborhood goes fully dark. Bundle up — temperatures will be in the mid-40s by early evening, so layers under the costume are the move this year.
