CPSC Recalls Three Halloween Products Just Days Before Oct. 31 — COS Families Should Check Now
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued recalls for three children's Halloween products on October 22 — one week before trick-or-treating. If any of these items are in your home, stop using them now and check CPSC.gov for details on what to do next.

CIYTI Light-Up Princess Costumes
These light-up princess costumes, sold on Amazon, were recalled because children can directly access the batteries housed in the costume accessories. Small coin and button batteries are one of the most serious hazard categories in children's products — when ingested, they can cause severe internal burns within two hours, sometimes without any immediate symptoms. Even a child who seems fine after swallowing a battery may have a serious injury in progress.
If you purchased a CIYTI light-up costume from Amazon, stop use immediately and visit CPSC.gov for remedy information.
BAMAMON LED Finger Light Toys
Approximately 6,533 units of BAMAMON LED Finger Light Toys were recalled for the same reason: battery ingestion risk. These glowing finger accessories have become popular as Halloween costume add-ons, and the compact size makes them particularly easy for young children to access the batteries. The recall was issued October 22, 2026.
Kaizou Group Squishy Bun and Squeezy Dumpling Toys
The Kaizou Group Squishy Bun and Squeezy Dumpling toys were recalled because they violate federal toy safety standards for water beads. Water bead toys were flagged repeatedly by the CPSC in recent years — the beads can expand significantly after being swallowed, causing dangerous intestinal blockages. These products were sold at Easy Wholesale (San Jose, CA) and at a flea market in Galt, CA, but may have been resold more widely.
What to Do Right Now
Before Halloween arrives, walk through your home with these steps in mind:
- Check any costume accessories with built-in lights or LED features. If the battery compartment opens easily or does not require a tool to access, keep it away from children under 5.
- Review any small novelty toys or fidget-style toys for water bead components.
- Search for recalled products at CPSC.gov using the product name or company name.
- If your child swallows a button or coin battery, go to the emergency room immediately — do not wait for symptoms.
