A Colorado Springs organization is set to hold a fundraising motorcycle ride Saturday aimed at generating scholarship money for students seeking to continue their education.
The event marks the fourth year that El Mariachi Vicla Tava City and La FAE — the Foundation for Education — have partnered to distribute scholarships. Last year, the organizations helped 19 people pursue their educational goals, and since the program's founding, more than 60 people across Southern Colorado have received financial assistance.
Organizers said their goal for this year's event is to raise funds for scholarships to be awarded in the coming year. Two of the event's organizers told Telemundo Sur Colorado this week that their motivation for participating is to serve the broader community.
The ride takes place Saturday, August 29, beginning at Harley-Davidson on Nevada Avenue. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and additional details are available on the organization's official Facebook page.
It was not immediately clear how many riders are expected to participate or what scholarship amounts will be available when awards are distributed next year.
