Colorado Parks and Wildlife has opened a volunteer search for its Sportsperson's Roundtable, a group that provides input on wildlife management and outdoor recreation issues throughout the state.
The department relies on feedback from hunters and anglers when making decisions about fish, wildlife, and habitat — a role the Roundtable is specifically designed to fill. The body meets to discuss pressing issues, generate ideas, and give the hunting, angling, and trapping communities a structured forum to share information with agency staff.
CPW is particularly seeking applicants from the Northwest, Northeast, and Southwest regions of the state in order to keep the membership geographically balanced. Members who are selected will serve two-year terms.
Accepted members are expected to attend half- to full-day in-person meetings twice a year, as well as occasional virtual sessions, with travel costs covered by the member rather than the agency. Additional responsibilities include participating in regional CPW sportsperson's gatherings, keeping up with current events and emerging wildlife issues, and bringing discussion topics to Roundtable meetings while actively exchanging information with fellow members and CPW staff. Members are also expected to make their contact information publicly available through the CPW Roundtable webpage and to be accessible to sportspeople across the state on matters relevant to the group's work.
Interested applicants can submit their materials through the CPW website, with a deadline of Monday, November 2.
Whether CPW announces the selected members publicly and when the newly formed Roundtable will hold its first meeting remain to be confirmed by the department.
