The Cimarron Hills Fire Protection District officially brought its new facility online on Oct. 21. The building, designated Station 2 and Headquarters, sits on Valley Street near the intersection of Galley Road and North Powers Boulevard. The district's original location on Peterson Road will continue operating as Station 1.
District officials tied the expansion directly to development pressure on the southern end of their coverage area. That part of the district has experienced a wave of growth, including new residential apartment complexes, commercial development, and rising traffic volumes. The additional station is intended to improve both service quality and how quickly crews can reach calls in those southern portions of the district.
Beyond emergency response, the new facility will serve as the district's administrative center, bringing together the Office of the Fire Chief, the Division Chief of Operations, the EMS Supervisor, and other administrative personnel under one roof. Consolidating those functions at the new address positions the district to manage both operational demands and continued community growth from a single location.
While Station 2 is primarily designed to serve the Cimarron Hills district itself, it will also be available as a mutual-aid resource for neighboring fire departments when needed. Officials noted that deploying aid from the new station will allow the district to respond to surrounding jurisdictions more quickly than was possible when all resources were staged only at Station 1.
With the administrative transition to Valley Street underway, the district plans to sell its former headquarters building on Tuskegee Place. That property is expected to be listed in the near term, though no sale timeline has been announced.
Whether the new station's added coverage will produce measurable decreases in response times across the district's developing southern corridor is something residents and officials will be watching in the months ahead.
