CPSC Recall: Liizousuda Paint Thinner Lacks Child-Resistant Packaging — Risk of Serious Lung Damage

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled Liizousuda brand paint thinner — sold under the name "Odorless Mineral Spirit / Artist Oil Thinning Medium" — because the bottles do not meet the mandatory child-resistant packaging standard. The product was sold on Amazon.com from March 2025 through February 2026 for approximately $10.

The Liizousuda thinner contains low-viscosity petroleum distillates, which are subject to the Poison Prevention Packaging Act because of what happens when a child ingests them. Even a small amount of low-viscosity petroleum distillate can travel directly into the lungs rather than the stomach — causing chemical pneumonia and serious pulmonary damage. This type of poisoning can be fatal.
The product is labeled "odorless," which can give a false sense of safety. Odorless does not mean non-toxic, and it does not mean safe for children. Because it has little smell, there may also be fewer warning signs that a child has ingested it compared to strong-smelling solvents.
What the Product Looks Like
The recalled bottles are clear, with a black cap and a wraparound label that reads "Odorless Mineral Spirit" and "Artist Oil Thinning Medium" in large text. The product is manufactured by Shenzhen Gudebo Technology and was sold through Amazon.com. If you purchased this product between March 2025 and February 2026, your bottle may not have a child-resistant closure.
What to Do
The remedy for this recall is a replacement bottle with a child-resistant closure. Contact Shenzhen Gudebo Technology through the process listed at cpsc.gov/Recalls. Do not discard the product improperly — petroleum-based solvents should be disposed of according to your local household hazardous waste guidelines.
