August has been an active month for CPSC recall announcements affecting families. COS Parenting has already covered the Taleco Gear baby jumpers and swings (August 15), the PIXLABBY magnetic fidget sliders (August 8), the GOPO Toys teething toy (August 6), and the Build-A-Bear Heartwarming Hugs Bear (August 8). Two more products announced in August 2026 have not yet appeared in our coverage — and both warrant checking at home.

Vevor Baby Swings — Suffocation Hazard, Federal Safety Violation

Sanven Technology recalled Vevor-branded baby swings after CPSC determined the products violate the mandatory federal standard for infant sleep products and the inclined sleepers ban.

Both of those standards exist for the same underlying reason: angled, padded infant products — particularly those in which infants can fall asleep at an incline — have been associated with positional asphyxia, a form of suffocation that occurs when an infant's airway becomes compromised by their head falling forward. The CPSC has been enforcing the inclined sleepers ban consistently since 2022 following a series of infant deaths linked to products in this category.

Finger Lights — Button Battery Access Hazard

Two brands of LED finger lights have been recalled due to a hazard that the CPSC and pediatric emergency physicians consider extremely serious: children can access the internal button cell (coin) batteries inside these products too easily.

The products affected are POPOOO Jungle Safari LED Finger Lights (approximately 62,490 units) and Delightmi Oitnlaughter LED Finger Lights (approximately 1,012 units). Both were sold on Amazon.com.

Button batteries — the small, round, flat batteries used in many small electronic products — cause a specific and severe type of injury when swallowed. A single button battery in a child's esophagus generates a small electrical current that causes a chemical reaction, producing hydroxide and burning through tissue. This damage begins within two hours of ingestion and can be fatal. Symptoms often do not appear immediately, which is why the medical guidance is unambiguous: if you suspect a child has swallowed a button battery, go to the emergency room immediately. Do not wait to see if symptoms develop.

These products were marketed as children's novelty toys. They should be removed from reach of any child who might attempt to access the batteries inside. Check cpsc.gov for the complete recall notice and disposal or return instructions for each brand.
