Two CPSC Recalls Parents Need to Know: Popular Teething Toy Poses Choking Risk, Toddler Stool Can Collapse
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued recalls on two products commonly used by families with young children: GOPO Toys Pull String Teething Toys and HARPPA Nordi Toddler Tower Stools. Both were sold on Amazon. Both pose serious injury risks, including in the GOPO case a risk of death. Here's what you need to know and what to do if you have either product at home.

The CPSC has recalled approximately 70,410 GOPO Toys Pull String Teething Toys. The hazard is significant: the toys' silicone strings exceed permitted length limits and fall below permitted size thresholds under mandatory toy safety standards. In practice, that means the strings can reach the back of a child's throat and cause choking or respiratory distress. Three incidents have already been reported.
The toys were sold on Amazon.com between August 2023 and March 2026 for approximately $11β$15. If you've purchased a GOPO Toys teething toy during that period, stop use immediately and remove it from your child's reach.
How to Get Your Refund
GOPO Toys requires a specific destruction process before issuing a refund:
- Cut all silicone strings off the toy
- Write "DESTROYED" across the toy body in permanent marker
- Photograph the destroyed toy
- Email the photograph to recalls@gopotoys.com
A full refund will be issued once the photo is submitted. Do not return the product to Amazon β follow the above process directly with GOPO Toys.

Recall 2: HARPPA Nordi Toddler Tower Stool β Model HANS0002 (Collapse and Entrapment Risk)
The CPSC has also recalled approximately 41,166 HARPPA Nordi Toddler Tower Stools, Model HANS0002. These learning-tower-style stools can collapse or tip over during use. When they do, the openings on the front and back of the stool are large enough for a child's torso to fit through β creating an entrapment hazard that can lead to serious injury. Two injuries (scrapes, cuts, and bruises) have been reported from three incidents of the stool collapsing or tipping.
The stools were sold on Harppababy.com and Amazon.com between September 2023 and June 2026 for approximately $130. They are white, black, and blue with natural wood, approximately 18 inches deep by 18 inches wide by 38.6 inches tall. The model number is printed on a label on the underside of the stool: look for "MODEL No.: HANS0002."
How to Get the Free Repair Kit
HARPPA is providing a free repair kit that includes protective nets, stabilizing feet, and installation instructions. Shipping is also free. Contact HARPPA directly to request your kit β do not continue using the stool until the repair kit has been installed.
