Pikes Peak Regional Airshow Returns Sept. 19–20: Your Family Guide to COS's Best Aviation Event

If you're looking for a full-day family outing before fall weather settles in, put September 19 and 20 on your calendar. The Pikes Peak Regional Airshow returns to Colorado Springs Airport — and it's one of the most genuinely spectacular family events of the year in COS.

Kids who have never watched an F-35A pull a supersonic pass overhead, or seen vintage WWII warbirds alongside the USAF Parachute Team Wings of Blue, are in for a day they won't forget. And at Colorado Springs Airport, the backdrop of Pikes Peak makes every aerial maneuver even more dramatic.

What to Expect

Gates open at 8:30 AM on both days. Flying starts at 11 AM, and the F-35A Demonstration Team takes to the skies at 2 PM each day — that's the headliner moment worth planning your arrival around.

In between, you'll have the USAF Parachute Team Wings of Blue, aircraft from the National Museum of WWII Aviation, and ground displays where kids can get up close with military aircraft. Kid zones and veteran recognition activities round out the day.

Plan for the full day. Bring sun protection — September in Colorado Springs is warm and clear most years, and the airport tarmac environment amplifies the sun. Bring snacks and water, though food vendors will also be on site.
