Halloween Week in Colorado Springs: What to Do with Kids This Fall Break
Fall break starts Monday for D11 and D49 families, and Halloween is less than two weeks away. COS has a solid mix of events through the end of October, ranging from free community gatherings to ticketed attractions that have been Colorado Springs staples for years. Here's what's worth knowing about as you plan out the week.

Advertise hereBoo at the Zoo
Boo at the Zoo at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo runs through October. It's one of the most popular family Halloween events in Colorado Springs, and for good reason โ the zoo's setting makes for a genuinely different kind of trick-or-treating experience. Tickets run approximately $19.75 to $24.75 per person depending on membership status and the day you go. Check availability before you plan around it, as popular dates sell out.
Fiddler on the Roof
First Company Theatre is running Fiddler on the Roof through November 1 at 420 N Nevada Ave in Colorado Springs. It's a family-appropriate show for older kids, and it's a chance to make a proper night of it โ dinner somewhere local, then the theater. Shows run through the entire week of fall break.
Community Events and Trunk-or-Treats
Community trunk-or-treats, harvest festivals, and neighborhood Halloween events tend to pop up across COS every October. Many of them are free, run by local churches and neighborhood organizations, and don't get much advance advertising. The best way to find them is through local Facebook groups, your school's parent communication channels, and the NextDoor app for your specific neighborhood.
The Citadel Mall (750 Citadel Dr E) has run its own Halloween trick-or-treat event in past years, and local businesses around town often do their own trunk-or-treats throughout the month. Worth keeping an eye on community boards for the latest announcements.
Outdoor Options
Cheyenne Mountain State Park and other COS-area outdoor spaces are worth a trip during fall break. October hiking in the Pikes Peak region tends to be spectacular for color and weather, and it's a solid way to spend a morning with kids who have energy to burn. Bring layers โ October mornings in Colorado Springs can be cool, even when afternoons warm up.
What's Next
Fall break runs through October 23 for D11 and D49 families. Halloween is October 31. For a complete list of events happening in Colorado Springs this week, check local listings at SpringsEventHub and COS Springs Mom's events calendar. Many events continue to be added as the week progresses, so it's worth checking back.
