The CPSC recalled approximately 213,500 Goody King Magnetic Building Cubes and Blocks on August 13, 2026. Two children swallowed magnets from the sets and underwent surgery to remove them. There were 27 additional reports of the blocks breaking apart and magnets becoming loose. Families who have purchased these sets โ€” sold on Amazon from January 2024 through July 2026 โ€” should stop using them and contact the importer for a prepaid return and full refund.

The Hazard

When magnetic toy pieces break apart, the individual magnets can be swallowed by young children. A single swallowed magnet can pass through the digestive system without serious harm. But when two or more magnets are swallowed separately โ€” or a magnet is swallowed alongside a metal object โ€” they can attract to each other through the walls of the intestine. That internal pinching can cause perforations, intestinal twisting, blockages, and blood poisoning. In severe cases, it can be fatal. The two children who swallowed magnets from these sets both required surgery for removal.

Who Needs to Check

If you have children between the ages of roughly 3 and 8, these sets landed squarely in common gift and activity territory. They were sold across multiple Amazon listings in set sizes from 45 to 300 pieces at prices between $17 and $50 โ€” a range that made them popular as birthday gifts, holiday gifts, and casual purchases. If you're not sure whether a set in your home falls under this recall, check the packaging for the Goody King brand name and the Yi Suen Commerce import label.

Because these were sold through Amazon, you can also check your order history directly. Log into your account and search your orders from January 2024 onward for anything matching "Goody King" or "magnetic building cubes."

What to Do

Stop using the sets immediately and keep them out of reach of children until they're returned. Contact Yi Suen Commerce for a prepaid return shipping label and a full refund. Do not toss the sets โ€” the return process is in place and the refund covers the full purchase price. If a family member or friend has one of these sets, pass the recall information along. Because they were popular gift items, some sets may be in homes where the recipient didn't make the original purchase and wouldn't have seen the Amazon recall notification.

What's Next

This recall remains active. The CPSC recall number can be verified at CPSC.gov, where you can also find photos of the affected sets for comparison. If you're shopping for magnetic building toys, look for sets that explicitly comply with ASTM F963, the standard that covers small magnetic components in children's toys. Reputable sets in compliance with current standards carry that certification; if you don't see it on the packaging, look for something that does.
