District 49 families have a new resource this school year. The D49 Student Success Center is opening at the start of the 2026–2027 school year at the former Falcon Elementary School of Technology building in the Falcon area. Unlike a neighborhood school, the Student Success Center is a district-wide specialized services hub — designed to serve D49 students from across the district who need targeted support.

What Services Are Inside

The Student Success Center consolidates several services under one roof. The preschool component includes two full-time classrooms operating Monday through Thursday — and this program is available to families throughout District 49, not just those who live near the Falcon site. That district-wide access is a significant detail for families who have been looking for preschool options and assumed they had to look elsewhere.

The Elevates 18–21 Transition Services program, which helps young adults with disabilities prepare for life after secondary school, is relocating to the Student Success Center. This move brings the program into a more centralized and purpose-built environment. The program serves students ages 18 through 21 who are still receiving special education services.

PEAK students — students with significant support needs working toward individual learning goals — will also receive services through the Student Success Center. The center provides a more structured, school-like environment to help these students work on their goals in anticipation of returning to their neighborhood school.

Also New: FESoT Hawks at Bennett Ranch

Separately, the FESoT (Falcon Elementary School of Technology) Hawks are co-locating at Bennett Ranch Elementary School this year. This change reflects D49's effort to use its building infrastructure efficiently as the district continues to grow in the eastern Colorado Springs area. Families with children at either school should confirm schedules and arrival procedures directly with the school.

D49's Growing District

District 49 serves families in the Falcon and Peyton area east of Colorado Springs — one of the fastest-growing areas in El Paso County. The district started the 2026–2027 school year on August 3 for kindergarteners, sixth graders, and ninth graders, with all other students beginning August 4. The Student Success Center is one of several infrastructure investments the district has made to keep pace with enrollment growth while maintaining specialized services.

The preschool program accepts enrollees on a district-wide basis — families do not need to live in the Falcon area to participate.
