D49 November: Board Meeting Wednesday, No School Thursday, Election Tuesday
D49 families have a packed week ahead. Between Election Day, a Board of Education meeting, and a no-school day back to back, there's a lot to keep track of. Here's what's coming up and what it means for your schedule.

Advertise hereTuesday, November 3: Election Day
Tuesday is Election Day across Colorado, and two El Paso County school districts have bond measures on the ballot. D11 is asking voters to approve Issue 4A, a $775 million capital bond that would fund a new Holmes Middle School, HVAC upgrades at every D11 school, and improvements at Palmer and Coronado high schools. D20 also has a bond measure on the November ballot.
D49 doesn't have its own bond on this ballot, but D49 families who own property in D11 or D20 attendance areas may still have a financial stake in those votes. And of course, D49 families participate in the same broader school board and district-level conversations about school funding in El Paso County.
Drop boxes for mail-in ballots are open across the county and close at 7 PM Tuesday. In-person polling locations are open from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Wednesday, November 5: Board of Education Meeting
The D49 Board of Education meets Wednesday, November 5, at the Creekside Success Center. Board meetings are public. If you have questions about district policy, budget decisions, or anything affecting your school, this is the official forum where those decisions are made and where community members can speak during public comment.
Check the D49 district website for the meeting agenda, start time, and location details within Creekside.
Thursday, November 6: No School
D49 schools are closed Thursday, November 6 for a professional development day. Teachers and staff are in training. Students are home.
If you need childcare coverage for Thursday, this is the week to arrange it. The no-school day falls the day after the Board meeting and the day after Election Day โ it's a busy week to have an unplanned day off from the school routine.
Thanksgiving Break: November 23-27
D49's Thanksgiving break runs November 23 through 27. That's five days off โ the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through the Sunday after. Schools reopen Monday, December 1.
With Thanksgiving break three weeks out, now is the time to sort travel, childcare, or any school projects or assignments that land in the final week before break. December is a compressed month with holiday concerts, end-of-semester work, and winter break. Getting ahead of it now pays off.
