The No-School Day Calendar: This Week and Next

Upcoming No-School Days by District
Date Day Who Has No School Reason
Nov 6, 2026 Friday All D49 students; D11 PreK only Staff professional development
Nov 7, 2026 Saturday All schools (weekend) Veterans Day parade downtown
Nov 8, 2026 Sunday All schools (weekend) Turkey Trails 5K in the AM
Nov 9, 2026 Monday All D11 students (all grades) Staff professional development

D49 families: your kids are off Friday Nov 6. Combined with the weekend, that's a 4-day stretch away from school through Sunday. If you work Friday, make sure childcare is sorted by tomorrow.

D11 families with kids in elementary through high school: your students do have school on Friday, Nov 6. But Monday, Nov 9 is a district-wide no-school day. That's coming fast โ€” this weekend is a good time to make arrangements if needed.

D11 PreK families: your kids are off on both Friday Nov 6 and Monday Nov 9.

What to Do with the Extra Days

Veterans Day weekend conveniently fills two of those free days with great options. The In Their Honor Veterans Day Parade on Saturday morning is a free, family-friendly downtown event. The Turkey Trails 5K on Sunday morning offers a kids race for ages 15 and under ($15 registration on RunSignup).

For families looking for lower-key options on Friday or Monday, here are a few ideas:

  • Garden of the Gods: free, beautiful, and magical in fall light โ€” go early before it gets crowded on a holiday-adjacent day.
  • Cheyenne Mountain State Park: a short drive with great hiking and fall scenery. The day pass is $9 per vehicle.
  • Pikes Peak Library District branches: check their November calendar for storytime, crafts, and drop-in programs. The East Library offers sensory-friendly storytime options.
  • Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College: free for children under 5, reduced rates for families.

What About D20?

Academy District 20 families should check the D20 district calendar directly at d20.org for any professional development or holiday schedule variations. D20 also had a capital bond measure on Tuesday's ballot โ€” results are still coming in.

What's Next

Thanksgiving break is coming up: D11 and D49 are both scheduled to close the week of November 23-27 for Thanksgiving. That's the next extended break on the calendar. For now, focus on planning for this week's no-school days. Check your district's specific calendar at d11.org or d49.org for any other schedule variations that may apply to your school site.
