D11 and D49 Fall Break and Parent-Teacher Conference Dates — October 2026
October is one of the busier months on the Colorado Springs school calendar, with teacher workdays, parent-teacher conferences, and fall breaks landing across different dates depending on whether your kids are in D11 or D49. Here's a side-by-side look at what's coming up.

D11 families have a handful of no-school and event dates to track this month:
- Oct. 1: Chalktober — 8th Grade Peak Experience
- Oct. 8: Discovery Day (PreK program)
- Oct. 9: Teacher Work Day — No students
- Oct. 14–15: Rocket Day (5th Grade)
- Oct. 16: Parent/Teacher Conferences — No students
- Oct. 19–22: Fall Break — No students (4 days)
- Oct. 24–25: Coronado High School Craft Fair
The main no-school stretch for D11 families runs Oct. 16–22 — a week that combines the parent-teacher conference day on Thursday and a four-day fall break from Monday through Thursday the following week. It's a good window to plan travel or childcare if you need it.
Falcon School District 49 (D49)
D49 families have a notably different fall break calendar:
- Oct. 8: Board of Education meeting
- Oct. 9: Parent-Teacher Conferences — No school
- Oct. 12–23: Fall Break — No school (nearly two full weeks)
D49's fall break runs Oct. 12–23 — about twice as long as D11's four-day break. Students in D49 are out for the better part of two weeks, which gives families a longer window but also requires more planning for child care and activities.
The One Date Both Districts Share
Both D11 and D49 have Oct. 9 as a no-school day for parent-teacher conferences. If you have kids in both districts, that's one date that lines up cleanly.
What's Next
Complete school year calendars for both districts are available at d11.org and d49.org. If you're in another Colorado Springs-area district, check your district's website directly — Palmer, Hanover, and Widefield have their own calendar schedules that don't follow D11 or D49 dates.
