CPSC Recalls 12,000 Liuqibax Bed Rails Sold on Amazon — Entrapment and Asphyxiation Risk
If you bought a portable bed rail on Amazon anytime between July 2024 and May 2026 and it looks like the Liuqibax BR-11, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission wants you to stop using it immediately.
About 12,000 Liuqibax adult portable bed rails have been recalled because of a severe hazard: users can become entrapped within the rail or between the rail and the side of the mattress, posing a risk of serious injury or death by asphyxiation. The rails also lack required hazard warning labels that would have flagged the risk at the time of purchase.
No injuries have been reported, but the hazard classification is among the most serious CPSC applies. The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the product immediately and not to wait.

Why This Matters for Families
Portable bed rails are commonly used in families for multiple reasons: children transitioning out of cribs, young kids in unfamiliar beds, elderly grandparents visiting, or anyone who needs extra support when getting in and out of bed at night. Because they're sold as safety devices, families often don't think of them as potential hazards.
The specific risk in this recall is the gap that can form between the rail and the mattress. That gap can create an entrapment scenario, particularly for young children and older adults who may not be able to free themselves quickly. The combination of entrapment and asphyxiation puts this in a hazard category that the CPSC treats with the highest urgency.
What to Do
The CPSC's instructions for this recall include a destruction requirement before the refund is processed:
- Stop using the rail immediately.
- Dismantle the rail completely.
- Cut the safety strap and storage bag.
- Write the word "RECALLED" in permanent marker on both the upper and lower rails.
- Take a photo of the destroyed product and email it to Liuqibax@outlook.com to receive your full refund.
Consumers who purchased the product on Amazon can also reference the recall at CPSC.gov for the official recall notice with additional contact information.
