The stool was sold at Amazon, Target, and Babylist between January 2023 and June 2026 for approximately $150. The CPSC and TOMY have received 11 reports of the stools becoming unstable or leaning. No injuries have been reported as of the recall announcement, but the potential for serious harm is the reason the recall was issued.

The TOMY Boon PIVOT recall is not an isolated event. Since September 2025, the CPSC has recalled toddler towers and kitchen step stools from 11 different brands. Across all 11 recalls, a combined 434,176 units have been recalled. The CPSC has documented 141 safety incidents and 54 child injuries across those brands.

Consumer Reports has been tracking this trend and is publicly pushing the CPSC to finalize a mandatory safety standard for toddler towers and kitchen step stools. As of this writing, no mandatory standard exists for this product category, meaning manufacturers set their own specifications for stability and structural integrity. The series of recalls suggests that the current approach is not adequate.

In the absence of a mandatory standard, the safest approach for families is to check all kitchen step stools and learning towers they own against the CPSC recall list at cpsc.gov, regardless of brand. If your tower is not currently recalled, the Consumer Reports guidance is to still be cautious: test stability before each use, supervise closely when children are standing on the platform, and avoid allowing children to use the tower unsupervised.
