I saw this thread title and thought about how the question is really whether these places are actually built around what people in different parts of the city need, you know. Springs Ranch where I'm at, we don't have much walkable nightlife and honestly most folks here aren't looking for it, but downtown and Old Colorado City, there's genuinely something happening now that wasn't five years ago. I was at a thing near the Hillside area last month and ran into someone who said they'd stopped going out entirely before the downtown improvements started picking up steam, and now they're actually downtown on weekends again. The real issue is whether new spots are filling a gap or just replacing what was already there, and whether they're accessible to people who live in different neighborhoods without having to drive thirty minutes. I think whatever's on a list like that is worth asking: are these places where you see the same crowd every night, or are they actually pulling in people from across the city. That's the difference between a bar and something that's actually becoming part of the fabric.
