District 49 families have a new building opening on Monday — the same morning that thousands of D49 students return to school for the 2026–27 year. The Student Success Center is opening at the former Falcon Elementary School of Technology site, and it houses four distinct programs serving families across the district.

Whether the SSC directly affects your family depends on which programs your child is enrolled in, but every family in D49 should know what's available — particularly the preschool option, which is open to any family in the district regardless of neighborhood.

PEAK: Higher-Level Support for Students with Disabilities

PEAK is D49's program for students who need a higher level of educational support than their neighborhood school can provide. The SSC is designed to offer these students a structured, school-like environment with the goal of supporting a path back to their home campus as they build toward the skills and supports they need.

If your student is currently enrolled in or being considered for PEAK services, D49 will have more specific guidance about the SSC's role in their education plan. Families with questions should contact their child's case manager or reach out directly to D49.

Elevates: Transition Services for Ages 18–21, Now In-District

Elevates is the district's transition services program for students ages 18 through 21. Previously, students receiving these services were served through outside community agencies. Moving Elevates to the Student Success Center means students receive services within the district itself — a consolidation that gives the program more continuity and gives students a consistent school-based setting through their transition period.

BASE49: Before- and After-School Care

BASE49, D49's before- and after-school care program, is now available at the Student Success Center for preschool students enrolled there. Families who need care coverage before or after the Monday–Thursday preschool schedule can register through d49.org/our-services/base49. This is particularly relevant for working families who need full-day coverage for preschool-age students.

The D49 Student Success Center opens Monday, August 3, 2026 — the same day as D49's staggered first day of school for kindergarteners, 6th graders, and 9th graders. All other D49 students begin Tuesday, August 4. The SSC is located at the former Falcon Elementary School of Technology site in Colorado Springs.
