D11 Gave 14,000 Students Free Supply Kits — Here's Where Else COS Families Can Get Help
When Colorado Springs School District 11 opened its doors on August 12, more than 14,000 kindergarten through eighth-grade students walked in with something they didn't have to shop for: a free, grade-specific school supply kit waiting for them.
D11 partnered with Edukit, a company that assembles grade-level supply kits and delivers them directly to schools, to make sure every K-8 student started the 2026-27 year with the supplies their teacher actually requested. No shopping list, no last-minute runs, no gaps.

Back-to-school supply costs are a real pressure point for many Colorado Springs families. Even when supply lists are short, the cumulative cost of outfitting multiple children across multiple grades adds up quickly — and the pressure falls disproportionately on families managing tight budgets at the start of a new school year.
The Edukit partnership removes that pressure for D11 families at the K-8 level. Instead of families purchasing individual items and hoping they got the right brand and size, Edukit assembles each kit to match the specific needs of each grade. Students get exactly what their teachers ordered.
Additional Supply Resources Still Available
If your family still needs supplies — or if you want to help another family — there are active resources in Colorado Springs:
Phil Long Ford Chapel Hills is hosting a back-to-school supply drive at its main showroom at 1565 Chapel Hills Drive, Colorado Springs. The drive benefits students at Beulah School of Natural Sciences and families affected by the Aspen Acres fire. Additional details on the supply needs list are available at shield616.org.
D11 Enrollment Is Still Open
Colorado Springs School District 11 enrollment for the 2026-27 school year remains open. Families can enroll online at d11.org or visit the district's enrollment office in person at 1033 N. Franklin St., Colorado Springs, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM MT.
If you have a child who hasn't started school yet and you're figuring out the enrollment process, the district's site at d11.org walks through the steps and required documentation.
What's Next
D11's Edukit partnership is part of the 2026-27 school year, so the supply kits are already in students' hands — the window to act on that has passed. But the Phil Long Ford supply drive and d11.org enrollment are both active now. If you know a Colorado Springs family that could use either resource, share this article. And if you want to donate to the Beulah School supply drive, check the shield616.org link for the current needs list before heading to 1565 Chapel Hills Drive.
